Two days after Henry officially signed for Arsenal, United legend Paul Scholes has come out of retirement after spending just seven months in retirement. His first task would be to provide enough gun powder to United’s depleted arsenal against neighbours Man City.

According to manutd.com Paul Scholes, age 37, would be on the bench today in the FA cup third round match at Etihad.

This move from the United manager raises strong questions about the availability of transfer funds from the Glazers. With injuries to key midfielders like Darren Fletcher and Cleverley, Sir Alex Ferguson has surprised every one with his decision to bring back a legend from the backroom staff.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: “It’s fantastic that Paul has made this decision. It’s always sad to see great players end their careers, but especially so when they do it early.

“But he has kept himself in great shape and I always felt that he had another season in him. It’s terrific to have him back.”

Paul Scholes added: “I’ve been pretty clear since I stopped playing that I miss it. I’m delighted the manager feels I can still make a contribution to the team and I’m looking forward to playing my part in trying to bring more success to this great club.”

Scholes will be available for selection till the end of this season.
