Scott Eastwood played Lt. Edwards in Ayer’s Suicide Squad film and didn’t have too many prominent scenes in comparison to the A-listers on the film. Worse yet for fans of the character, Eastwood was completely absent from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

Scott Eastwood was approached to do a sequel film, but his issue became with the backend part of the deal. After speaking with his father, actor and director Clint Eastwood, the younger Eastwood knew exactly what to do. “They didn’t want to pay me any money for those next movies and … they didn’t have another script for the other movie, so I didn’t know what I was going to be signing myself up for,” the actor told Insider. “I said, ‘They don’t want to pay me,’” recalling the conversation he had with his famous father. “He said, ‘If it feels like they really need you and if it’s a good part, then do it. If not, then don’t.’”
Scott Eastwood’s Edwards was shown in Suicide Squad, but apparently he was featured much more in director Ayer’s original cut for Suicide Squad. This is one of the many reasons why fans are calling for the release of Ayer’s true Suicide Squad film. However, Warner Bros. has given no indication that they plan to release an alternate version of Suicide Squad, even after the alleged success of Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Maybe with the franchise’ growth, fans will see more sequels or spin-offs that feature these characters. Many fans enjoy the dark humor that comes with these films, as these deadly killers are entertaining to watch, especially when they interact with each other. There will also be a Suicide Squad video game dropping, which may also increase the franchise’s marketability and fan base.
Whether Scott Eastwood will return to the famed franchise is also up in the air. Anything is possible, but right now nothing is confirmed. If there is another sequel to The Suicide Squad then fans shouldn’t be surprised if new and old characters to join the big cast.
The Suicide Squad is now available on HBO Max.
