Gallo, our No. 8 prospect, hit a mammoth home run Sunday against the Cubs and just missed a second one when he flew out to the warning track. He also walked twice while taking a number of close pitches, showing an improved eye at the plate.

Gallo still has holes in his swing and he won’t ever hit for a high average, but he’s got the best raw power in the minors. He has 80 homers the last two years, and will be a legitimate threat to eventually hit 40 home runs a year in the majors. If he can continue to refine his approach, he should be in line for a mid-season promotion.
