The game is about two factions, the Paladins and Variants, locked in a fight for survival against each other. If you browse around the website, the journal entries reveal that neither faction appears to be human (or at least, fully so).

The inclusion of humans in a seemingly irrelevant, background role certainly adds an interesting dynamic to the game. The Paladins seek to protect us poor humans, and the Variants say something about it being the Paladins fault they’re getting in the way. With more set to be revealed, the plot-line may be a deal breaker for this Xbox Live title.

Though the trailer only really shows what seems like a half-second of action, it looks like it has potential to be a good arcade game. It’s also going to be the first game 5th Cell will have developed for a console, rather than a handheld, so it’ll be interesting to see how they can fare. With a new demographic things might not be a smooth ride. There’s already a collective of action games on Xbox Live, and they’re going to have to bring their A-game if they want gamers to spend some precious points.

Hybrid is set for release in 2011, exclusively for Xbox Live. We’ll be following it as more news comes out, so stay tuned to Game Rant.
