2020 was a solid year for fans of the swashbuckling multiplayer adventure game, but Rare is promising big things for Sea of Thieves and its players in 2021. It looks like Rare is already building up the team for just that reason with the hiring of a new Senior Graphic Designer in Mat Roff.

Roff has been very active on social media and has a nice little following thanks to his freelance work. He is also the co-founder of the Oxford Doodle Club, an Oxford-based drawing club. Much of that will have to be pushed to the backburner with his role at Rare, however, as the team focuses on moving Sea of Thieves to a seasonal update and battle pass model.
It is good to see Rare continue to hire for Sea of Thieves, as the game continues to grow. The game started out rather bare-bones, but it has expanded over the years, and with it being a free title on Xbox Game Pass, more players are given the opportunity to try out what is now a fully fleshed-out experience. It is also exciting when companies hire for new IP, as it seems that Respawn Entertainment is hiring for. For Roff, he says that he “can’t wait” to start working for the team in January.
Sea of Thieves is out now for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
