“Wide receiver Ricardo Lockette sustained ligament damage in his neck that requires surgery to stabilize,” a team spokesperson said in a statement. “He will undergo surgery this afternoon at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He has full motion and feeling in all extremities and his prognosis is good. We will provide an update following surgery.”

Coach Pete Carroll additionally confirmed on 710 ESPN Seattle that “there’s no way” Lockette will return, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

Lockette was carted off the field with 12 seconds remaining in the first half during Sunday’s game against the Cowboys after being knocked unconscious during a punt return. Cowboys safety Jeff Heath delivered the hit that left Lockette motionless on the turf for several minutes and was flagged for an illegal blindside block on the play.

Lockette was able to give a thumbs up before leaving the field on a stretcher. He remained in Dallas overnight on Sunday as a precaution and underwent further testing.
