Perhaps he doesn’t see it as a boycott because he is willing to speak to a few media members. He said he’ll speak to ESPN’s Ed Werder and would be willing to respond to Liz Mathews of ESPN 710 Seattle via text, but that’s it. He also has a contractual obligation to speak to the FOX station in Seattle, which he did Wednesday.

Outside of those outlets, Sherman is refusing to speak to the local media and even taunted them by saying (according to the Seattle Times), “I told you, you’re going to miss me when I’m gone."
He also referenced recent comments made by Denzel Washington on Twitter.
Here’s what Washington said in December:
Sherman has his right to not speak to the media, or offer the media very little in return, but he can’t expect us to buy the idea that this isn’t a boycott. He is actively refusing to speak to the majority of reporters for a direct cause.
