Mariota scrambled to the right on a first-and-10 play and was being pursued by linebacker Bobby Wagner. Sherman came from his corner position like a missile aimed at Mariota. When he made contact, he took out his own player, and all three players fell to the ground on the sideline.
Mariota’s teammates did not appreciate Sherman’s hit, and a scuffle ensued.

Jack Conklin, Quinton Spain, Richard Sherman and Sheldon Richardson all were hit with offsetting personal fouls. Sherman came close to getting ejected earlier in the game when he argued multiple penalties on one play, and he avoided ejection again after hitting Mariota.
The Titans held a 3-0 lead at the time of the scuffle.
